Olá :)

You may call me Bya (pronounced Bea), and I am a PhD Candidate at Cornell University. I have more than a decade of experience helping private and public organizations understand technology, digital culture, and emerging trends through research, education, and strategy. I graduated with a Specialization in Consumer & Material Culture: Semiopsychanalitic Perspectives and a BA in Social Communications with an emphasis in Advertising from the University of São Paulo.

I am a Brazilian qualitative researcher interested in technology and gender, focusing on creating worker and creator-led collaborative paths against harassment and labor inequality mediated by digital platforms and artificial intelligence, as well as investigating decolonial design fiction. I draw on intersectional feminisms, anti-colonial perspectives, and Latin American militant research lenses. My academic background is rooted in a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing theoretical frameworks from Communication, Science and Technology Studies, and Gender Studies.

Additionally, I explore intersections between scientific inquiry through collaborative media-making, documentary filming, and speculative design experiences.I have worked for companies such as Airbnb and delivered work for others such as Santander, Banco Central do Brasil, Colgate, SWIFT, Facebook, McDonald's, GIZ, Armasuisse, World Government Summit, and the UN. I have lived and worked in Brazil, the US, Canada, and Holland. I am an experienced freelancer, working easily with a team or by myself, and I am used to handling multiple projects simultaneously.
